Theta Pi chapter Archon Shane Conway was named Fraternity Man of the Year, the second consecutive year the honor has been awarded to a member of Pi Kappa Phi. Criteria for the recipient include: being an active member of an Interfraternity Council (IFC) member fraternity recognized by the Office of Student Life and Leadership; must exemplify his fraternity’s founding principles and demonstrate them in his everyday life; have contributed to the advancement of his fraternity and Greek Life and UT Tyler; and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
Member Jacob Van Der Schans was awarded the prestigious ‘Legacy Award.’ Criteria for the recipient include: involvement in at least two campus organizations recognized by the Department of Student Life and Leadership; have held an elected officer position in at least one campus organization for at least three months; have experience serving as a mentor to other students; demonstrate the potential to be a continued leader after graduation; and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
UT Tyler students, faculty and staff submitted nominees, and a selection committee consisting of faculty and staff chose winners. The UT Tyler Department of Student Life and Leadership sponsored the awards reception, which is in its tenth year.
