The Theta Pi chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at University of Texas – Tyler hosted its very first Empathy Dinner to raise awareness for The Ability Experience and people with disabilities, capping off a week-long effort.
On Thursday, October 2, 2014 members and their guests had dinner with a certain simulated disability to display awareness of our beloved philanthropy. The event raised more than $800 for people with disabilities.
Earlier in the week, the chapter held their 2nd annual Sand King Volleyball Tournament, A ‘Spread The Word to End The Word’ awareness campaign to promote people-first language, ‘Peg-A-Pi Kapp on Harvey Lake, and ‘Gear Up UT Tyler,’ a stationary cycling marathon at the University Center.
